Professions (职业)

医 (yī) - 医生 / 医治

  • Character: 医
  • Pinyin: yī
  • English: doctor, to cure
  • Stroke Order: First write the outer part “匚”, top to bottom: horizontal, vertical fold; then write the inner part “矢”, top to bottom: falling, horizontal, horizontal, falling,捺; finally write the bottom horizontal

Examples:

  1. 我爸爸是一名医生。 (Wǒ bà ba shì yì míng yī shēng.) - My father is a doctor.
  2. 医生给病人看病。 (Yī shēng gěi bìng rén kàn bìng.) - The doctor treats patients.
  3. 医院里有很多医生。 (Yī yuàn lǐ yǒu hěn duō yī shēng.) - There are many doctors in the hospital.

生 (shēng) - 生命 / 学生

  • Character: 生
  • Pinyin: shēng
  • English: life, student, to be born
  • Stroke Order: First write the falling, then the horizontal, then horizontal, vertical, horizontal

Examples:

  1. 我是小学生。 (Wǒ shì xiǎo xué shēng.) - I am a primary school student.
  2. 生命很重要。 (Shēng mìng hěn zhòng yào.) - Life is very important.
  3. 我出生在北京。 (Wǒ chū shēng zài Běi jīng.) - I was born in Beijing.

师 (shī) - 老师 / 师傅

  • Stroke Order: First write the left part “丨”, top to bottom: vertical; then write the right part “帀”, top to bottom: horizontal, falling, vertical, horizontal-fold-hook, vertical

Examples:

  1. 老师教我们读书。 (Lǎo shī jiāo wǒ men dú shū.) - The teacher teaches us to read.
  2. 我的老师很和蔼。 (Wǒ de lǎo shī hěn hé ǎi.) - My teacher is very kind.

工 (gōng) - 工作 / 工人

农 (nóng) - 农业 / 农民

  • Stroke Order: First write the top part “冖”, top to bottom: dot, horizontal-hook; then write the bottom part “辰”, top to bottom: horizontal, falling, horizontal, horizontal, falling, vertical-rise, falling,捺

Examples:

  1. 农民在田里种地。 (Nóng mín zài tián lǐ zhòng dì.) - Farmers are farming in the fields.
  2. 农业很重要。 (Nóng yè hěn zhòng yào.) - Agriculture is very important.

商 (shāng) - 商业 / 商人

  • English: commerce, merchant
  • Stroke Order: First write the top part “亠”, top to bottom: dot, horizontal; then write the middle part “冏”, from outside to inside: vertical, horizontal-fold, horizontal, vertical, horizontal-fold, horizontal; finally write the bottom part “口”

Examples:

  1. 商店里有很多商品。 (Shāng diàn lǐ yǒu hěn duō shāng pǐn.) - There are many products in the store.
  2. 商人做生意。 (Shāng rén zuò shēng yi.) - Merchants do business.
  3. 商业区很繁华。 (Shāng yè qū hěn fán huá.) - The commercial district is very busy.

警 (jǐng) - 警察 / 警告

  • Character: 警
  • Pinyin: jǐng
  • English: police, to warn
  • Stroke Order: First write the top part “敬”, from left to right: 苟, 攵; then write the bottom part “言”, top to bottom: dot, horizontal, horizontal, horizontal, 口

Examples:

  1. 警察叔叔保护我们。 (Jǐng chá shū shu bǎo hù wǒ men.) - Police officers protect us.
  2. 警察在指挥交通。 (Jǐng chá zài zhǐ huī jiāo tōng.) - The police are directing traffic.

察 (chá) - 观察 / 检查

员 (yuán) - 成员 / 人员

  • English: member, personnel

Examples:

  2. 工作人员很热情。 (Gōng zuò rén yuán hěn rè qíng.) - The staff members are very enthusiastic.

职 (zhí) - 职业 / 职务

  • English: job, duty, profession
